Scarlet Splendour

Handcrafted in India for the Theatre of Life

Scarlet Splendour is a furniture and collectible design house in Kolkata, India. The siblings Ashish Bajoria and Suman Kanodia, who grew up in Kolkata, founded it in 2014. It works with international designers from Europe and the U.S.A., and its pieces are handcrafted in India. Its debut collections were launched at Spazio Rossana Orlandi during Milan Design Week 2015.

The range covers designer cabinets, seating, tables, lighting, rugs, wall art, bars and sculptural objects. Indian artisans work with techniques such as brass repoussé, metal casting, marquetry, hand-painting and sculptural finishing, in materials including brass, copper, treated wood, natural straw, resin, textiles and upholstery. Designers in the collection include Matteo Cibic, Nika Zupanc, Elena Salmistraro, Marcantonio, Karim Rashid, Richard Hutten, Richard Yasmine and Sacha Walckhoff. The house’s studio in Kolkata is Teatro Scarlet.
