On March 14th, 2023, fashion enthusiasts around the world tuned in to witness Louis Vuitton’s Women’s Spring/Summer 2023 Collection at the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM).

The collection, originally unveiled in Paris in October 2022 at the Louvre’s Cour Carrée, is the brainchild of Louis Vuitton Artistic Director Nicolas Ghesquière.

It challenges traditional codes of femininity and combines the infinitely large with the infinitely small, resulting in an unconventional balance of proportions.

The Perfect Backdrop

The PAMM, designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architects Herzog & de Meuron, provided the perfect backdrop for the Trunk Show.

Known for its contemporary art and innovation, the museum’s three-story building sits on an elevated platform beside Miami’s Biscayne Bay.

A horticultural canopy extends beyond the museum walls, creating a unique shaded veranda and dynamic plazas.

The iconic terrace served as the setting for the Trunk Show, presented twice on the 14th, at 11:00 am and 4:00 pm.

New Balance of Proportions

Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2023 Collection defies traditional concepts of clothing and accessory proportions.

Oversized zippers and snaps, belt buckles transformed from clasps, and a scrap of leather as an outfit are some of the unconventional reinterpretations featured in the collection.

This stylistic exercise challenges and re-evaluates the proportions of femininity, which is what makes it stand out.

The details in each piece honour the DNA of the house, with references to locks, clasps, and trunk corner pieces – all custodians of a narrative that endures.
